June 20, 2020 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Genealogy can be a rewarding experience, but researching African American ancestors can be a challenge. The biggest obstacle is the brick wall of slavery. In this presentation you will learn how to navigate major obstacles. You will learn the importance of the 1870 Census and discover which records generated after the Civil War pertain to African Americans. We will discuss online resources and groups and the impact of DNA on your research. In other words you will be given tools to make your research more successful.
